I’m Robin Benich, known online for my art as Salamanding! Nothing brings me more joy than to bring something cool from inside my own head to out in the real world, so I’ve spent my entire life developing my skills in art, design, and illustration.
As I’ve been pursuing art for as long as I can remember, I’ve found ways to grow my skills through self-teaching, school classes, online guides, books, etc. Since my art really started getting online recognition online I’ve had more and more people interested in my methods as an artist. I’m excited to help learning artists by showing my approach to drawing that I've developed over the years!

Course Content
My course is made-up of 5 modules, with more than 7 hours of demonstration and instruction through 29 video segments! You can pause and replay the videos as much as you want, but i suggest you take them in order and follow along with my demonstration!

IN MY COURSE YOU WILL LEARN
1. INVISIBLE FIRST STEPS
In this module we'll introduce the course with my foundational sketching methods. From throwing ideas at the wall, experimenting with composition, and making and refining the sketch that will be the solid foundation for the rest of the illustration process.
2. INKING
In this module we'll find the right inking brush for linework. We'll lay down the linework of an illustration and refine it with added detail, line weight adjustments, and more, leaving the sketch behind and stepping into the real final illustration.
3. COLORS
In Module 3 we'll introduce the fundamentals of choosing colors, exploring techniques for experimenting with color relationships and color harmony. Color scan seem like a simple step of the illustration progress, but my demonstration should help you consider the nuances of good and effective coloring in digital art.
4. SHADING
Here we'll introduce you to different layer styles I combine to create shadows, lighting, and other effects to make interesting and realistic shading much more of a digestible process.
5. POST-PROCESSING
This final module covers the tricks and techniques such as color/value adjustments, noise, and perspective blurring i use after the "drawing" part of a drawing is finished to pull it into a cohesive and stylish piece ready to post.

Practical exercises
Theory is important, but what makes you a true artist is practice! You'll find lots of exercises to get started with and from which to get inspiration. I should really help you consider and improve your own artistic process!
